Ward Update, October 10

Posted on October 10, 2020October 18, 2020 by Brother Valentine

Sisters and Brothers—

As you read this, hopefully you are preparing for the opportunity to have our first shared sacrament experience in more than six months.

I am so excited.

Over the last few months, I have had numerous members of the ward ask about expanding gatherings and activities. While we’ve seen a gradual increase in what we’ve been allowed to do because of the COVID-19 restrictions, this will be the first time adult classes and quorums have been able to do anything together. Young women classes and Aaronic Priesthood quorums are able to meet weekly for activities and follow their regular classroom instruction schedule. It is truly a blessing.

At the same time, the instruction we’ll receive in the second hour won’t look like we’re used to and still isn’t the ideal environment for these classes and quorum meetings. We all appreciate the chance to hear the whisperings of the Holy Ghost in-person.

However, I know that as we appreciate what the week will bring and go “all in” in our participation, we will be blessed with the Lord’s Spirit in our Sabbath worship, no matter where we’re participating. As we show patience with technology glitches and adapting teaching techniques, we will find a familiar connection that will enhance our Sabbath day.

As a reminder, we will have a 30-minute sacrament meeting starting at noon. Those with last names beginning with A through L are invited to attend the sacrament meeting in person. Others are invited to watch the service at this link:

Spanish Fork Utah River Stake Sacrament Streams

Select “River View Ward” and follow directions to watch.

The sacrament meeting broadcast won’t include the administration of the sacrament. Administration will be done after the speakers conclude and after the closing prayer. Those in attendance at the church will have the sacrament administered from 12:30 to 12:45. Those watching from home are encouraged to have the sacrament at that same time or at another time that works better.

For a complete explanation of services and classes, I’ll refer you to my email from Oct. 5, 2020. If you have any questions, please reach out to your organizational leaders.

I love you all and look forward to whatever the day brings. The Lord’s Spirit will be with us as we do our best. Just like always.

Bishop Bennett
