Ward Update, March 28

Posted on March 28, 2021April 18, 2021 by Brother Valentine

Sisters and brothers –

This week, we celebrate the last days of our Savior’s mortal ministry and mission. As we prepare for general conference, we also prepare to celebrate Easter — the holiday devoted to the miracle of Christ’s resurrection.

“Because of Jesus Christ, we will rise from the despair of death and embrace those we love, shedding tears of overwhelming joy and overflowing gratitude. Because of Jesus Christ, we will exist as eternal beings, worlds without end.

“Because of Jesus the Christ, our sins can not only be erased; they can be forgotten.

“We can become purified and exalted.

“Holy.

“Because of our beloved Savior, we can forever drink from the fountain of water that springs up into eternal life. We can dwell forever in the mansions of our eternal King, in unimaginable glory and perfect happiness.” (Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “Behold the Man!” April 2018 general conference)

His resurrection was more than a miracle. It was the prophesied promise of the Atonement. It symbolized to the world that death is not the end. That loved ones will reunite. That faculties will be fully restored. That physical death is nothing more than temporary inconvenience necessary to continue on the path to exaltation.

Today in sacrament meeting — which all are invited to attend — we will celebrate Easter through the spoken word and through music. It will be a hopeful beginning to Easter week. If you are unable to attend in person, you can access the broadcast here and are authorized to administer the sacrament at home. (As always, the sacrament should be administered by worthy priesthood holders of the proper office.)

And, next weekend, we will hear the inspired words of Christ’s chosen leaders during general conference, which begins Saturday and continues into Easter Sunday.

Have a wonderful Sabbath day and rest in the grace of Christ. For because of our Savior, death is not the end.

I love you all and hope you find peace in the Easter season.

Bishop Bennett
